GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – One Girl Scout troop in the East is working to combat bullying at recess with a creative service project.
The girls of Troop 903 in Pitt County celebrated the completion Buddy Benches.
They said the benches are a way to make new friends and help others not feel lonely.
“When you’re just trying to do something and you don’t have any friends to do something with, you can sit down on the Buddy Bench, which means you can have a buddy, who is like that who can come and sit with you and you can at least play with them,” said Jamey Hall, one of the Girl Scouts.
There are four benches in total.
One bench will stay at the park behind the First Christian Church. The other three will go to Eastern Elementary, GR Whitfield, and Wintergreen Primary.
